On June 28-29, the International Workshop on Structural Superlubricity 2023 took place in Shenzhen. The conference was held jointly by the Center of Double Helix (CDH) of Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University (referred to as Tsinghua SIGS) and co-organized by the Superlubricity R&D Centre of Shenzhen Tsinghua University Research Institute and Shenzhen X-Insititute. The workshop aimed to provide an academic platform for cutting-edge experts in the fields of structural superlubricity, device design, manufacturing, and materials. The event facilitated discussions on common scientific and technical challenges in the field of structural superlubricity and related areas.

During the meeting, a total of fourteen experts and scholars from various prestigious institutions participated, including Tsinghua SIGS, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Wuhan University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Tel Aviv University, State University of New York at Buffalo, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University of Technology, Guizhou Minzu University, Institute of Semiconductor Research of Guangdong Academy of Sciences, and Institute of Superslip Technology of Tsinghua University Research Institute in Shenzhen. The discussions and presentations revolved around three main topics:Physics & Devices,Materials & Interfaces, and Processing & Integration The experts and scholars shared their research reports and findings, fostering scientific and technological cooperation and facilitating discussions and exchanges in these areas.

The seminar commenced with opening speeches delivered by Professor Ma LAN, Vice President of Tsinghua SIGS, and Zheng Shuquan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Tsinghua SIGS Materials Research Institute. Professor Ma LAN, as the Vice President of Tsinghua SIGS, shared her insights and set the tone for the seminar. Zheng Shuquan, who is not only an academician but also the founder of the Center of Double Helix, provided valuable perspectives on the seminar’s theme. Professor Xu Zhiping from the School of Aerospace Engineering at Tsinghua University served as the chief host, guiding the proceedings of the seminar.
