The “Smart Surfaces Seminar 2023” will be held at the Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School from August 7 to 9, 2023. The seminar aims to promote the development of intelligent surfaces, address scientific and technical challenges, and explore future opportunities for collaboration. Industry experts and scholars are welcome to attend.

The development, production, and utilization of smart surfaces encompass various cutting-edge fields such as materials science, machinery, biomedicine, surface physical chemistry, soft matter, nanoscience, and mechanics.  With its exceptional and distinctive capabilities, smart surfaces have the potential to challenge conventional notions of material surface properties and offer innovative solutions to numerous pressing scientific and engineering challenges. These challenges span diverse areas including energy, environment, biomedical research, deep space and deep sea exploration, military defence, and other domains. Consequently, smart surfaces represent a highly valued and advanced direction of development both presently and in the future.

In recent years, the study of interface science and the engineering design and advancement of intelligent interface materials and systems has led to significant technological advancements and accelerated the implementation of intelligent technologies in key fields.

Nevertheless, when it comes to the challenge of material failure during operation, practical engineering applications still require breakthroughs in material synthesis and preparation techniques and enhancements in material stability within extreme service environments.

The conference was collaboratively organized by the Center of Double Helix Center of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School; the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Tsinghua University; and the superlubricity R&D center of Shenzhen Tsinghua Research Institute.

Our objective is to invite esteemed scholars and industry professionals involved in relevant research to engage in discussions on intelligent surface science and technology, as well as its key applications in various industries.

The conference will feature thematic sessions focused on energy and environment, healthcare, aerospace and navigation. It will adopt a format that combines academic presentations and specialized discussions, with the aim of providing a platform for academic exchange among leading scientists and industry experts in the global field of smart surfaces and related disciplines.

Note：To participate in the conference, students are required to register using their student ID card. The registration fee covers attendance to the conference, conference materials, as well as lunch and dinner provided during the event.
