The Center of Double Helix (CDH) is a part of Institute of Materials Research(iMR) of Tsinghua SIGS and, is pivotal to Tsinghua's strategic vision for the Bay Area. It leverages Tsinghua SIGS6+1 interdisciplinary strengths to lead the way in scientific and technological advancement. The Center promotes research from fundamental science to cutting-edge applications, focusing on key areas such as superlubricity microsystems (SMS), which areexpected to drive the development of robotics, drones, and 6G technology.

Under the leadership of Academician Quanshui Zheng, CDH is an exciting and progressive hub for scientific exploration and education, fostering a collaborative ecosystem between academia and industry. Our facilities, which include advanced labs and collaborative spaces, support this vibrant innovation community and are housed within Tsinghua SIGS. It encompasses over 700 square meters, including labs, conference rooms, and office areas. We also have top-tier students from China, as well as Asia. In CDH, each PI will have the opportunity to attract ~10 students (including PHD and master students) from China and across the world each year. 

 

Tenure-track Faculty Recruitment

We are eager to welcome 3 outstanding tenure-track faculty members who can propel our mission forward beginning January 1, 2025, or later. We are primarily searching for candidates at Assistant Professor level, and outstanding applicants may also be considered for elevated positions. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional research potential, leadership qualities, and a commitment to making significant contributions to graduate education and the CDH community.

Areas of Focus:

Applications are welcomed from all areas of Mechanics, Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, and related disciplines, with a particular focus on micro/nano surfaces and superlubricity. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

·       Mechanics and Physics of micro/nano systems

·       Materials science for superlubricity applications

·       Design and development of superlubricity microsystems

·       Applications and devices utilizing superlubricity technology

Faculty Responsibilities:

Faculty responsibilities include conducting original scholarly research, developing and teaching graduate-level courses in Mechanics, Materials Science, and related fields, mentoring students, and contributing to departmental and Institute service.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related field by the date of employment. Candidates with significant full-time industry experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Job Introduction

·       Position: tenure track assistant professor, Associate Professor, and Professor

·       Annual Salary: Highly competitive remuneration matching qualifications and experience.

·       Funding Support: Start-up funds for research, basic support funds, relocation expenses, etc.

·   Recruitment of Doctoral and Postdoctoral Students: Each faculty member is entitled to enroll up to 2 doctoral students per year (eligible for college scholarships), and the college provides partial funding for postdoctoral salaries.
