Biography

Haichao Wu is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Shandong University, his M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and his Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University.

His research focuses on intelligent micro/nanorobots and active soft matter systems, as well as AI-assisted materials design and autonomous experimental platforms. His work aims to understand and control transport, manipulation, and functional system in complex micro- and nanoscale environments, and accelerate material discovery using AI and autonomous experimental platforms. He is a recipient of Victor K.

LaMer Award from the American Chemical Society (2023), Aramont Fellow at Harvard University (2022), Foresight Institute Fellow (2023), and Nanoscale Emerging Investigator (2025). He currently serves as a Young Editorial Board Member for ACS Chemical & Biomedical Engineering, Materials Genome Engineering Advances, and the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering.
