Research Interests

My research interests focus on materials and technologies innovation toward liquid metal intelligent machines, including porous liquid metal, stimuli-responsive liquid metal composites, transitional insulator/conductor, and then developing transformable machines with multiple functions such as actuating, sensing, and grasping.

Biography

Wang Hongzhang joined Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School in 2023 as an assistant professor, PhD supervisor, and special researcher. he graduated from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Tsinghua University with a PhD degree in January 2021, and focuses on the research of liquid metal robotics advanced materials technology and its cross-cutting applications, and has achieved a series of research results in emerging liquid metal smart materials, including porous liquid metal, conductive Insulation transition elastomers, multi-field regulated phase change materials, to further expand the application of such materials in the field of soft robots, liquid grippers, flexible electronic skin, exoskeleton bandages and other fields. A total of 41 academic papers have been published, of which 16 papers have been published in Matter, Advanced Materials, Accounts of Materials Research, Advanced Functional Materials and other journals as co-authors or corresponding authors, and 10 national invention patents have been authorized. Some of our work has been reported by CCTV, State Administration of Foreign Languages, Oriental TV, Economic Daily News, Phoenix Net and other media.
